SASO certification

Introduction to SASO Certification
SASO is the abbreviation of the English Saudi Arabian Standards Organization, that is, the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization. SASO is responsible for formulating national standards for all daily necessities and products, and the standards also involve measurement systems, labels, etc. SASO certification is a general term for exporting Saudi certification. In fact, it should be called certificate of conformity certification, which is translated into a declaration of conformity, that is, COC certification (take the first letter of the three words). Therefore, it is wrong to put SASO certification on the surface of the product, and such printing may lead to unsuccessful customs clearance.
Note: In order to cooperate with traditional customs, SASO certification is used as the name of Saudi COC certification.
Saudi SASO certification process

In fact, many SASO standards are based on the safety standards of relevant international organizations such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Like many other countries, Saudi Arabia has added some unique items to the standard according to its own country‘s civil and industrial voltage, geographical and climatic environment, ethnic and religious habits, etc. In order to achieve the purpose of protecting consumers, SASO standards not only apply to products imported from abroad, but also apply to products produced in Saudi Arabia.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Saudi Arabia and SASO require that all products included in the SASO certification standard have SASO certification when entering Saudi customs. Products without SASO certificates will be refused entry by Saudi port customs.
SASO certification form:
1. Pre-shipment Compliance Verification
This method is suitable for exporters or manufacturers with very few shipments. Pre-shipment inspection (PSI) and pre-shipment test (PST) are required before each shipment. Both are qualified to get the CoC certificate.
 Note: This method is the common operation method of our SASO certification. The certification process is:
1. Test according to the international standard of the product and issue a safety report. The laboratory that issued the report is an organization authorized by CNAS and the standard belongs to the authorized schedule. Common international standards are IEC, EN, ASTM, ISO four major international standards.
2. After the report comes out, apply to the international inspection agency for inspection and issue COC certification. Saudi SASO-certified inspection agencies include ITS, SGS, BV, NEMKO, CVC, and CQC. Among them, the common inspection agencies that Huanqiwei testing cooperates with are NEMKO, INTERTEK, CQC and BV.
3. According to the product category, product value and product condition, confirm the appropriate inspection agency with the engineers of the CTB testing center, and make an appointment for inspection after the inspection agency has made a large shipment according to the product nameplate, packaging and appearance requirements. The cargo agency will come to the door to inspect the goods, and they will be qualified and issue a COC certificate.
3. Type Approval Licensing
This method can not only save the inspection fee or testing fee before each shipment, simplify the repeated application procedures, but also ensure the delivery time. favored by the company. At present, this method is relatively rare.

SASO certification testing precautions
1. The Saudi standard is based on the IEC standard of the International Electrotechnical Commission with the addition of national differences.
2. The rated voltage is AC 127V or 220V/60Hz
3. Frequency 60Hz
4. Saudi Arabia is in the tropics, and the product design should be suitable for tropical climates.
5. From October 1, 2003, the requirements for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) have been enforced for electrical and electronic products sold to Saudi Arabia.
6. The plugs need to comply with the SSA444&443 standard. It is worth noting that the pins of all plugs are flat pins. Starting from November 9, 2002, all products shipped should not be shipped with round pin VDE plugs in principle.
7. According to the requirements in the Saudi standard KSA1278&1279, the ambient temperature of the test should be carried out according to the tropical climate conditions, such as temperature rise test, humidity gain and loss, etc. will have an impact.
8. According to the requirements of KSA380, the frequency range of audio products with radio function is also an item that is required to be detected. These include long-wave, medium-wave, short-wave and ultra-wave all with different range requirements.
9. In terms of the content of the label, all products must indicate the full name of the country of origin. For audio products with radio function, the radio frequency range should be marked on the nameplate or a conspicuous place on the appearance of the product. Lighting products need to be marked with the ambient temperature (TA), and other products are required to be marked with the tropical mark (T).
SASO certification inspection precautions
1. Label language: English or Arabic;
2. Instructions, warnings: Arabic or Arabic + English;
3. The words MADE IN CHINA should be printed on the product and packaging or on the label; (MADE IN CHINA)
CHINA must be reflected on the product and packaging in a non-removable way, and cannot be pasted with ordinary self-adhesive stickers);
4. Voltage: 220V-240V or 220V; Current: 60Hz or 50/60Hz; Voltage and frequency must include 220V/60Hze);
5. Plug: The plug must be a British three-pin plug (BS1363 plug);
6. All hand-held power tools and household items must have instructions in Arabic;
7. Any SASO LOGO without SASO registration authorization is not allowed to be displayed on the product or packaging, so as to avoid the goods being refused customs clearance by Saudi customs at the destination port;

The difference between Saudi SASO certification and Saudi COC certification
SASO certification is actually the COC certification of Saudi Arabia, which is a kind of COC certification. COC certification refers to the meaning of the declaration of conformity.

Several titles of export Saudi certification
saso is the abbreviation of the English Saudi Arabian Standards Organization, that is, the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization. SASO is responsible for formulating national standards for all daily necessities and products, so it is generally exported to Saudi Arabia for certification, which is commonly called SASO certification by the public. However, the title of SASO certification is actually wrong. It is also strictly prohibited to print or post SASO on the outer packaging of the product, because its correct title should be COC certification. Only by choosing an authoritative and professional SASO certification body can the Saudi COC certification be properly operated.

Organizations with a large number of SASO certifications-NEMKO characteristics and requirements
SASO certification and certification authority must be SGS and INTERTEK, this is undisputed. However, NEMKO is an institution with a large amount of SASO certificates, and it has many advantages. Therefore, today I have to discuss the certificate issuing points of NEMKO institutions in detail. Let‘s talk about the background first.
         The G20 summit has just been held, and Xi Jinping invited the Saudi head of state to attend the meeting, which fully reflects the importance he attaches to this important Middle Eastern country. Saudi Arabia is also fighting vigorously with Russia for the right to export oil. China‘s annual export volume to Saudi Arabia is increasing rapidly, and it has become a very key foreign trade partner of China. Due to Saudi Arabia‘s full implementation of COC certification before import shipments, it is also It is the "SASO certification" proposed by the majority of exporters. Any product within the scope of SASO certification without a certificate will not be able to clear customs, and will face a relatively high amount of fines or even return and goods destruction. Therefore, it focuses on the analysis of SASO‘s certification body, NEMKO, and some specific details of NEMKO‘s requirements for SASO certification.
   1.NEMKO introduction: Nemko is a worldwide independent testing and certification organization for electromechanical products. It was first established in 1933 and headquartered in Oslo, Norway, and has a history of 77 years. It is one of the certification bodies nominated by IEC and participates in the development of relevant standards. For a long time, Nemko has established its international image as an authoritative, impartial and responsible certification body by virtue of its thorough understanding of standards and its rigorous style of loyalty. NEMKO‘s own key certification field is not actually inspection, but safety certification for electrical and electronic products. However, because NEMKO set up a branch in Saudi Arabia and hopes to expand the Saudi testing and certification market, it signed a SASO issue with the Saudi Bureau of Standards. The authorization agreement of the certificate can be issued from now on.
   2. Is the SASO certificate issued by NEMKO highly authoritative? NEMKO is an international authoritative certification organization. Since this organization has participated in more safety certifications and less COC certifications, it can only make up for its shortcomings by bringing greater advantages. NEMKO is the first country to develop an inspection-free mode to operate COC certification, so there is no authoritative statement, but the organization‘s model is different.
   3. What is the fee for NEMKO certification? On the whole, the NEMKO certification price is a bit higher than that of TUV/SGS and other institutions. The certificate of value fee of $10,000 to $60,000 needs to be close to more than $500. 60,000 to 100,000 US dollars, the inspection fee is 550 US dollars, 100,000 to 200,000 US dollars, and the inspection fee is 950 US dollars. Compared with ITS and SGS, the average inspection fee is 50-100 US dollars more expensive.
   4. Audit requirements for NEMKO certification: Although NEMKO certification does not require inspection, it is necessary to provide complete photos of each model of the product, such as large shipment photos, individual box photos, unpacking photos, color boxes Photo, sample photo, mark photo, name plate and so on. Photo requirements are stricter. In addition, each product needs a Saudi standard or international standard test report issued by a laboratory authorized by the ISO17025 agency.
